Floor coverings installation
Preparation of base
The base should be flat, durable, dry and clean. You should also apply primer and levelling material in order to get rid of cracks and bumps.
It is important! In the areas of adjunctions to the wall it is necessary to make a thermal gap – 5 mm. Thus you make a place for thermal expansion of the tile in case of high temperature.
Installation from the corner of the room
If the room has small area (no more than 30 m2) you can start installation from the corner of the room, to economize material.
If the room has large area, unusual geometric shape or it is necessary to compose a pattern from different colors, it is advisable to start installation from the center of the room.
Before installation, you should measure the room, draw in your mind the lines from the center in length and width and find the central point of the room.
Thus, the surface of floor can be relatively divided into 4 sectors and you install the covering floor tile in the shape of cross. Then you install tile on the 4 given sectors.
Planning of sectors
If the room has large area, the given sectors should also be divided into further sectors with the interval about 10 m. In this case, it is very easy to join tiles even in the places with huge area. The covering will be flat and symmetrical.
Installation of floor in the corridor
In case of installation in the corridor, you should start installation from the center and then go to the edges.
Test installation
At first, you should try on the tile to your floor if you want it to be installed symmetrically and flat. The preparatory installation is very important in case of gluing the floor covering to the base. After arranging the tile on the floor you can start installation. You must do the initial arrangement properly if it is needed to glue the tile to the base, in order not to change the position of the tiles with glue on the surface.
Gluing
It is advisable to use two-component polyurethane adhesive «Forbo Euromix PU 144” for gluing floor coverings SOLD and rubber coverings.
Adhesive consists of two components — polyurethane and hardener, that are combined before using.
Adhesive consumption: 1 can - for 10-20 m2 (depends on applying)
Adhesive and hardener must be thoroughly stirred until you get perfect colored mixture, pay attention to the stirring on the edges and on the bottom.
It is important! You must use ready-made adhesive within 30 - 40 minutes, with temperature +20°C.
It is advisable to install floor covering on the adhesive no later than after 60 minutes from the time of stirring.
Therefore, if the room is small and you plan to use small quantity of adhesive, make the mixture for 30-40 minutes of work.
How to prepare adhesive Forbo?
If you want two-component polyurethane adhesive to have all claimed qualities, you must mix it with solvent in proportion given by the manufacturer.
Mixing ratio:
8 weight parts of resin by 1 weight part of hardener. To dose covering correctly you must measure it.
- Weight of resin in one bucket — 7 kg
- Weight of hardener— 0,875 kg
If you decide to use a half of adhesive, measurements must be like that:
resin: 7kg/2=3,5 kg
hardener: 0,875/2=0,4375 kg =438 g
In case you prepare the whole bucket of adhesive
If you leave ready-made adhesive in the bucket, the temperature of it will increase because of the chemical reaction and the adhesive will stiffen faster. In order to prevent it you must pour the adhesive on the floor surface in the shape of puddles and stripes and then you must spread it with the help of trowel.
It is advisable to use notched trowel А1/A2 for the PVC coverings and rubber floors.
Covering installation
Modules are connected with each other with the help of T-shaped locks.
Tile connection
For the connection of modules with each other you can use rubber or wooden mallet.
Tile adjusting
In the places of adjunction of the covering to the wall, it is necessary to cut the modules with the help of big kitchen knife or jigsaw.
Gluing of tiles
Don’t stand on the applied adhesive in order to avoid footsteps on the floor.
In case of getting the adhesive on the tiles it should be immediately removed by wet rag.
Environmental conditions
During the working process the temperature in the room, the temperature of base, covering and adhesive must be not lower than 15°C, relative humidity level no more than 75% (advisable level <65%). The environmental conditions during the installation of the covering must be the same as the following service conditions in order to avoid distortion of the covering size.
